Plans advance for $100M Golf Resort on Lake Hartwell

A $100 million golf resort planned for Lake Hartwell received state panel approval this week.  On Tuesday, the state Budget and Control Board voted 4-1 to approve planning for the Sanctuary Pointe development site near I-85 in Oconee County. In December, the Savannah District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced a development plan for the proposed 325-acre site. The development plan provides for a comprehensive resort facility that may include hotels, lodging facilities, golf course, courtesy slips, a resort harbor area and the potential for marina services. Additional approval is needed from the state and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The Sanctuary Pointe development is anticipated to bring hundreds of jobs to the area.
