Power and Water Outages in Westminster

According to Westminster City Administrator Kevin Bronson, some residents may remain without power until Sunday evening. While some restoration is possible today, there’s no guarantee. Due to the storm’s severity, neighboring utilities are also facing outages, and contractors are working across the Southeast. The Highway 76 water pump station is currently without power, and that brings us to the next item for Westminster, where city officials have issued a Boil Water Advisory for residents in Coffee Road, Long Creek Highway (north), Welcome Church Road, Unity Church Road, Burton Memorial Drive, and surrounding areas. Due to widespread power outages in Oconee County, water pumps have been affected, causing low water pressure and supply in higher elevations. As a precaution, residents should vigorously boil water for at least one minute before drinking or cooking until further notice. The advisory is expected to last for at least 48 hours while the city tests water samples.
