Power disruption leads to boil water advisory

The following is a new boil water advisory:

“The City of Walhalla Water Department has issued a 24 hour boil water advisory after power outages at the Rocky Knoll Pump Station. The 24-hour boil water advisory is in effect for customers on Rocky Knoll Road, Playground Road, Lake Jemiki Road, the Highlands Highway corridor connecting these roads and surrounding areas. Those included have been notified by phone call.
During this advisory, out of abundance of caution, residents are advised to vigorously boil their water for at least three (3) minutes before using it for drinking, cooking, or food preparation. Any ice made from water that has not been boiled should also not be used for drinking purposes.
Water samples will be collected and tested. Customers will be notified when it is lifted.
