POWER RESTORATION UPDATE: Seneca Light & Water

Officials at Seneca Light & Water issued a Sunday afternoon update on current status and work
being done to restore power to 5,000 services as a result of the destructive forces of the EF-3
tornado which struck Seneca and surrounding areas early Monday morning.
• There were 5 circuits affected with 4 destroyed by the tornado Monday morning with
over 5000 services out.
• Today, 4/19/20, there remain roughly 900 meters out of service.
• Today, 4/19/20, there are 150 linemen rebuilding the primary distribution system.
• Today, 4/19/20, crews are rebuilding primary circuits along 6th Street, Utica area, Adams
Subdivision and throughout the system.
• Once the primary circuits are rebuilt, connections will begin to be re-established.
• Electric service cannot be re-established if the building’s meter base or the
weather-head is damaged. If damage has occurred, please have a certified
electrician address the problem and notify the local building official.
• Seneca Light & Waters expects to have 95% of the primary circuits to be re-established
by 4/24/20.
