Events Committee recaps Seneca Fest 2015

A recap of Seneca Fest 2015 was given at this week’s Seneca Events Committee meeting. “It was great weekend for the City of Seneca. We had a record number of people in town. Also the Downtown Merchants Association said they had a record May, so it was good all around. Good for businesses and that is what it is all about, bringing tourists into town, seeing our wonderful city and while they are here eating in our restaurants, shopping, spending time and hopefully they will return.” Seneca Events Coordinator Riley Johnson said the committee also discussed booking a band for the city’s Independence Day Celebration for the next three years. “We are looking at locking in the Tams. We have an opportunity according to Mayor Pro-tem Ronnie O’Kelley, the Tams are available for a three year contract, so we are going to present that to city council and see if they want to go ahead and lock in the Tams for the next three years coming up at the next council meeting.” Johnson gives the bands for this year’s 4th of July Celebration. “At 5pm it’s the Bruce Helgeson Trio then we have Chasin the Blues and then around 8:30pm or so The Coasters will kick off the night and then at the end we will countdown to the spectacular fireworks display.” It’s all free to the community.
