PRWD renews commitment to GCCP

Sister station WGOG reports Pioneer Rural Water District is moving forward with its plan to locate its first treatment plant in the Golden Corner Commerce Park.  Tuesday night, Pioneer Rural Water District general manager Terry Pruitt presented a timeline to the Oconee County Council for completing the sale of property. According to Pruitt, the deal should be complete at the county level with a June 4 public hearing and final reading of the land transaction ordinance. Pioneer Rural Water District chairman Jerry Barlow said once the deal is finalized he wants the water district to sell its Lake Hartwell property where it originally wanted to build the plant. When it comes to other infrastructure within the planned industrial park, Oconee County is going to make room for an electric transmission line. At Tuesday night’s Oconee County Council meeting, Administrator Scott Moulder announced the county has been requested to grant easements for Central Electric Power Cooperative to expand its Northwest Anderson-Southern Oconee transmission line.
