Public Hearing on Annexation of Anderson County Acreage into Clemson City Limits

The City of Clemson Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on April 5th to consider a petition to annex 66 acres of unincorporated property from Anderson County. The proposed zoning is R-20 single-family residential and is contiguous with existing limits.

This isn’t the first time Clemson, which is in Pickens County, has tried it’s hand at land grabbing. More than fifty years ago, Clemson University was annexed from Oconee to Pickens County, and an attempt was made three years ago to annex Oconee County’s Lakeside Lodge property. They withdrew their proposal after a number of displeased local leaders and residents protested the move.
