South Carolina state parks plan to get 2019 started in a healthy and adventurous way. Thirty parks, including Devil’s Fork near Salem, will offer ranger-guided hikes, walks and special events Tuesday, January 1. At Devil’s Fork there will be a 5K run. Hikes are mostly walks along lakes and beaches, in forests or on historic trails. They are designed to help hikers and walkers learn more about the cultural and natural heritage of South Carolina. Not to be minimized is the chance to get in some holiday exercise.
