Reckless vehicular homicide charge filed

The Oconee County County Coroner said a 25-year-old Seneca man was killed after being hit by a car following a domestic incident Thursday night. Chief John Covington with the Seneca Police Department said the 911 call came in after 9 p.m. about a person who had been hit by a car on South Fairplay Street near Daniel Avenue. Coroner Karl Addis identified the victim as John Taylor Bright. Addis said John Bright was struck and run over near the driveway to his home on South Townville Street. The 2005 Dodge 3500 pickup that hit him was driven his wife, Taylor Louise Bright, Addis said. John Bright was dragged by the truck down South Townville Street, then onto Seventh Street, and finally on South Fairplay Street. He was pronounced dead on scene from multiple traumatic injuries. Covington announced Friday that a reckless vehicular homicide charge was filed against 22-year-old Taylor Bright. The incident report states that Taylor Bright told police she left the scene after a domestic disturbance and “noticed that the truck wasn’t operating correctly so she stopped” and discovered her husband under the truck. According to the arrest warrant, she dragged the victim approximately 1,600 feet. Officers said she had a strong odor of alcohol coming from her and admitted to smoking marijuana and consuming four beers before the incident.
