Red Cross has record breaking Hero Campaign

Despite a down economy, the Oconee County Chapter of the American Red Cross experienced a record-breaking fundraising campaign.  Kathy Rogers, executive director of the Oconee County Chapter of the American Red Cross tells about this year’s Hero Campaign.  “I just wrapped up our ninth annual Hero Campaign and it has grown and grown and this year I raised more money than I ever have.” Rogers gives this year’s total for the Hero Campaign.  “I raised $56,000 this year and I remember the first year I think I raised $9,000, so it has really grown over the years.  We depend on donations and this is our big fundraiser each year.” The record fundraiser shows the generous nature of people living in the Golden Corner, says Rogers.  “The folks in Oconee County, I think they are so generous and they know more and more what the Oconee County Chapter does.  After so many years they budget for it because they know I am going to be calling and that we need the funds.” The American Red Cross exists to provide compassionate care to those in need.  Trained and dedicated volunteers provide disaster relief, support to military families, needed lifesaving blood, as well as health and safety services.  If you would like to donate to the Oconee County Chapter of the American Red Cross, email Kathy Rogers at [email protected].
