Remembrances Today On The 75th Anniversary Of D-Day

(Seneca, SC)———Today is the 75th anniversary of D-Day, the day in which allied troops landed on the beaches of Normandy, France to begin the liberation of Europe during World War II.

As many think about this day and the sacrifices of our veterans and those who gave their lives in defense of this country on D-Day 75 years ago, Jerry Dyar, the Veteran’s Affairs Director for Oconee County, was a guest on the Coffee Time the Friday before Memorial Day and spoke about the sacrifices made by the veterans of the Armed Forces of the United States.

Dyar said that without the sacrifices of the veterans of the Armed Forces of the United States, we would not be able to enjoy those things that we take as second nature in our country.

Dyar pointed out that 1.7 million to 1.8 million services members have given their lives in defense of not only the United States but also to secure the freedoms of other nations.

Dyar said the men and women of the Armed Forces of the United States have made a difference around the world since the founding of the United States in 1776.
