Rep. Whitmire working to reform Education Funding in SC

It’s a busy time in Columbia for District 1 State Representative Bill Whitmire of Oconee County as he is working on a committee trying to reform educational funding in the state. “Well, right now I’m chairing an ADHOC Committee on Education Funding Reform. We just had our first meeting last month and we will be trying to combine, we’ve got about 70 or 80 different pots of money that go into public education funding and we’re trying to combine those into a more workable solution.” Following his career as an educator in the School District of Oconee County, Whitmire has served in the South Carolina House of Representatives since 2003.
