Ribbon cut on New Oconee Campus of TCTC

Hundreds were on hand as Tri-County Technical College (TCTC) cut the ribbon to dedicate the new Oconee Campus off Highway 11 today. TCTC President Dr. Ronnie Booth said this is the culmination of a lot of hard work. “I’m really thankful to all of you for coming. This is a big day for so many of us. This really is the culmination of a lot of hard work. It also was a great partnership between the College, the School District and the county. I think this is going to provide many opportunities for people of this county for many years to come.” The 37,000-square-foot campus is located in the Oconee Industry and Technology Park at 552 Education Way in Westminster. Oconee County Schools Superintendent Dr. Michael Thorsland is excited about the new campus and the opportunities it will provide students. “This is a great day to see this campus open. We are extremely excited that in the next couple of months you should see dirt moving right next door on the Hamilton Career and Technology Center. So, our students will be able to go from high school, walk to a college campus and then possibly even walk to a job right here in this same place.” The Oconee Campus is the first building to be constructed on the site of the Oconee County Workforce Development Center. Monday is the first day for classes, and between 150 and 175 students are expected to attend the new Oconee Campus.
