Safe Harbor Commemorates 5th Anniversary Of Oconee Shelter

(Seneca, SC)—–Safe Harbor issued a release yesterday announcing the 5th anniversary of the opening of the first domestic violence shelter in Oconee County.

Back on August 15th, 2014, the 16-bed Oconee shelter opened for domestic violence victims and their children after over $1.3 million dollars was raised.

The building for the shelter was purchased in December of 2013.

Over the past five years, according to the release, the shelter has housed 357 women and 273 children in crisis situations with counselors and advocates providing over 5,800 hours of support for victims.
