Safe Harbor to announce Shelter Campaign

On Friday, Safe Harbor plans to announce their capital campaign to raise $990,000 for Oconee County’s first domestic abuse shelter. A press conference is planned for 9:30am in the second floor training room of the Oconee County Sheriff’s Department. The goal of the fundraiser is to cover the cost of a facility, three years operating and program expenses to insure the shelter is sustained long-term.  Safe Harbor has a contract for a facility in Seneca that is to become the shelter. Once operating, the shelter is to be staffed with a full-time manager, full-time counselor, and rotating relief workers for evenings and weekends. The hope is to have a shelter opened by 2015, or sooner.
