Salem names New Police Chief

The Town of Salem has a new police chief and its a native. Brian Lusk returns to the Oconee County town where he grew up and graduated from high school. The former state trooper took the oath of office on Friday as police chief in Salem, succeeding Dave Poulson, who resigned for a job in nearby Pickens. Lusk becomes the only fill-time police officer in Salem, but is being assisted by two part-time officers. He spent more than 20 years as a state trooper and credits his work with the Highway Patrol for developing a skill of law enforcement professionalism, which he can call on in his new role.
