SC Domestic Violence Victims remembered

More than 48 South Carolina residents have been remembered through the state’s annual ceremony to honor those killed as a result of domestic violence.  On Tuesday during the Silent Witness Domestic Violence ceremony at the Statehouse in Columbia, Attorney General Alan Wilson read the names and stories of 39 women and 9 men killed by their partners last year. This is the event’s 16th year. October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Last week, a report released by the Violence Policy Center in Washington showed that South Carolina ranks first in the country in the rate of women killed by men.
