SC Forestry Commission Warns of Heightened Wildfire Risk Amid Drying Spring Conditions

The South Carolina Forestry Commission is urging residents to remain vigilant as warm, dry spring weather rapidly creates dangerous wildfire conditions across the state.

Low humidity, dry fuels, and high winds already triggered a busy weekend of fire suppression, and a drying pattern is forecast to continue for the next 7–10 days, further intensifying the developing drought and reducing moisture in larger dead fuels.

These conditions closely mirror those that preceded last year’s Table Rock Fire, which became part of one of South Carolina’s most active and destructive wildfire seasons in decades.
