SC Governor signs Student Athlete Concussion Bill

Coaches and players are paying closer attention to what used to be referred to as “getting your bell rung”, a hard hit or fall that left a player dizzy. On Thursday, South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley signing the Student Athletes Concussion bill, a law aimed at advancing the identification and treatment of concussions in student athletes in all sports. The bill says an athlete removed from play because of a head injury would have to be medically cleared by a trainer or physician, using new guidelines, before the athlete could return to the game. It includes practices too.  A ceremonial bill signing was held today at Dorman High School.
