SC Highways claim Two More lives

The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces two people were killed on state roads and highways from Friday, March 8, at 6pm until Sunday, March 10, at midnight. As of March 10, 116 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 147 highway deaths in this same time period in 2012.  Oconee County has yet to experience a highway fatality in 2013 compared to four in 2012.  Pickens County reports six fatalities in 2013 and 3 in 2012.  Anderson County lists two in 2013 compared to seven in 2012 at this same time.  Of the 83 motor vehicle occupants who have died statewide in 2013, 60 were not wearing seat belts. Through midnight March 10, 18 pedestrians, 12 motorcyclists and 2 bicyclists have died on state roads and highways. These numbers are preliminary and are based on fatal collisions compiled by the South Carolina Department of Public Safety as of midnight March 10, 2013.
