SC Outdoors helping State Economy

The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is thanking citizens for participating in outdoor activities. Thanks to the love for fishing, hunting, wildlife viewing, boating, coastal tourism, and forestry, more than 218,719 jobs and $33.4 billion has been contributed to South Carolina’s economy. The total economic contribution of freshwater fishing, hunting, and wildlife viewing to South Carolina is $2.74 billion and 31,958 jobs, according to the DNR. Add in saltwater fishing and the total effect is increased by $329 million. The collective economic contribution of South Carolina’s natural resource-based sectors has grown by 15% throughout the last seven years. Today, the natural resource-based sectors annually contribute $33.4 billion and 218,719 jobs to state economy.
