SC reports First Flu Death

The first flu related death has been reported in South Carolina.  Officials with the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control report that death was in Barnwell County.  Officials did not release any further details on the flu death. Health officials report that flu season has started earlier than usual this year in the Palmetto State with widespread cases of the virus reported.  The peak of flu season is still three months away. Health officials say there is still time to get a flu shot, but people should hurry because it takes two weeks to build to full immunity. DHEC estimates 400,000 people in South Carolina will get the flu during this flu season.
