SC Veterans’ Unemployment Rate drops in 2017

South Carolina’s annual unemployment rate from veterans declined to 3.9% in 2017 from 5% in 2016, reports the South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce. There were 182,000 veterans employed in 2017 and 7,000 unemployed. Of the 417,000 veterans living in South Carolina in 2017, 189,000 participated in the labor market, or 45.4% of all veterans in the state. Nationally, the veteran unemployment rate fell to 3.7% in 2017 from 4.3%. South Carolina’s annual unemployment rate for 2017 was 4.4%.
