SCDHEC Reminds Parents To Make Sure Children’s Vaccinations Are Up To Date Before Start Of School Year

(Seneca, SC)—————The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control issued a release recently reminding parents to be sure to make their children’s vaccinations are up to date before school begins soon.

According to a press release from SCDHEC, South Carolina children enrolled in childcare (including pre-K) and 5K thru the 12th grade must be up to date on the required vaccines for their grade level before school starts.

The release also states that SCDHEC urges parents not to forget their preteen’s ages 11 and 12 are recommended to get Tdap, HPV and meningitis vaccines.  According to the release, a Tdap booster is required for all students before starting 7th grade.

SCDHEC also reminds parents to be ready for the new Hep A vaccine requirement for childcare and 5K, which starts in the 2020-2021 school year.
