SCDOT repaving Clemson Intersection

Motorists are being cautioned about a road repaving project set to begin this Sunday, Oct. 29, in Clemson. The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) will be repaving the intersection of Highway 123 and Highway 133, tells Clemson Mayor JC Cook. “That is the main intersection at College Avenue and Highway 123 where the new railroad trestle bridge is being built and over the last few weeks they got all the big beams up across the road from the railroad. Now they are going to do the roadwork, which entails them going in there and cutting the old pavement out and repaving and re-striping. So, hopefully when they get this done by the end of next week we will have our traffic patterns back to the way they are supposed to be and it will be a big improvement, especially for people coming down Highway 133 and wanting to turn left onto Highway 123.” This repaving will occur during the day, continues Mayor Cook. “All of that work will take place during the day, a lot of times road construction happens at night but with new asphalt and the temperatures falling as low as they do at night that makes them have to work during the day when the temperatures are suitable for that kind of work. So, there will be some road closures and delays starting Sunday and Monday through Thursday of next week, so if you have to go to work leave a little earlier or find an alternate way would be even better.” This roadwork is expected to last through Thursday, Nov. 2.
