SDOC accepting School Choice Applications on March 1

The School District of Oconee County (SDOC) will start accepting school choice applications on March 1, explains Assistant Superintendent of Operations Steve Hanvey. “We’ll have our school choice registration starting on March 1. The window will open up and even if students are currently attending on school choice, that was approved last year, you have to re-up that every year. So, you go online to our website at www.oconee.k12.sc.us and under the parent tab there is a link for school choice and you just fill that application out. The school should notify you in a timely manner of whether your child will be tentatively approved because final approval doesn’t come until the end of the school year because students have to met certain attendance, academic and discipline requirements. This year we have changed it a little bit, we start on March 1, and we have a hard deadline of June 30. So, after that June 30, deadline we will not be accepting any more school choice applications not approving any school choice moves in the summer time. So, we wanted to get the word out for people to get that done as quickly as possible.” To learn more about school choice in the SDOC, visit www.oconee.k12.sc.us.
