SDOC Announces New Orchard Park Elementary Principal

At its regularly scheduled board meeting held Monday, April 14, 2025, the School District of Oconee County Board of Trustees approved the hiring of Mrs. Lindsay McKay as principal of Orchard Park Elementary School for the 2025-2026 school year.

Dr. Thorsland, superintendent, said, “Mrs. McKay brings a wealth of experience with her to our district. We look forward to working with her as she assumes the role of principal at Orchard Park.”
Mrs. Lindsay McKay, current principal of Nevitt Forest Elementary in Anderson, comes with 18 years in education, having served as a teacher, media specialist, interventionist, instructional coach, assistant principal and principal. She holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary and early childhood education from University of North Carolina-Wilmington, a master’s degree in library and information sciences from University of South Carolina and an educational specialist degree from Arkansas State University. Mrs. McKay grew up in the mountains of North Carolina but has lived in the upstate with her family since 2008. She is married to Lucas and they have two children, Ethan and Emerson. They are all excited about serving the Orchard Park Community.
Mrs. McKay said, “Stepping into the role of principal at Orchard Park is truly an honor. This school holds so much heart, and I’m incredibly excited for the opportunity to work alongside dedicated staff, amazing students, and a supportive community. I can’t wait to grow, lead, and learn together.”
