SDOC Board hears presentation on Property Reversion

At their work session Monday night, the Board of Trustees for the School District of Oconee County (SDOC) heard a presentation from Associate Superintendent of Administration Steve Hanvey on a property reversion matter. “Well, back when the SDOC built Blue Ridge Elementary there was some property about 4.5 acres or so that the SDOC had given to the county because there was talk about potentially putting a library in that location. After a number of years, the county has decided that they are no longer in need of that and wanted to return that to us as per the contract. So, we were just going through the paperwork of doing that. The county will be doing the same thing, approving that, coming back to us and then we will close on it probably some time next month. Then we will change it on the books over at the tax office.” There are no immediate plans for the property continues Hanvey. “At this time we don’t have plans for it. We’ll kind of monitor it and see as we go, but currently we have not had a chance to make any plans or to decide if we are going to do anything special there with that property.” The board will hold further discussions on the property matter at future meetings.
