SDOC Face-to-Face Enrollment Numbers Down Amid COVID-19

Oconee County schools enrollment this week is at 10,209 – a four percent decrease from the 2019-20 school year.

When asked about enrollment, Oconee County Schools Superintendent Dr. Michael  Thorsland said, “Our district’s enrollment has been steady for more than twenty years, varying just a few hundred students over those years.  We anticipated a drop this year as parents considered other schooling options due to the virus.  Even with the 4% drop, we are still within the normal range we expect.”

Enrollment this year is divided between face-to-face and at-home instruction. A total of 78% of Oconee’s student population have opted for face-to-face learning as opposed to the remote option.

The chart below is a breakdown of enrollment numbers at each school and in municipal areas of Oconee County.
