SDOC locating More Services in Bountyland

A plan to locate more services at the Hamilton Career Center was presented to the Board of Trustees for the School District of Oconee County Tuesday night. The five-year building plan has the alternative program, adult education, food services, and other operations moving to the campus in the Bountyland community, explains Oconee County Schools Assistant Superintendent of Operations Steve Hanvey. “Well, we began looking at what we wanted to do with the property of the current Career Center and Richard Alexander came up with a really good idea we thought that we could centralize some of our district wide programs there including our maintenance department, the alternative programs, Oconee Academy, Adult Ed, which we would move there rather than build a new facility at the site of the new Career Center and Tri-County Technical College’s campus at the Industry and Technology Park. We’ll move food service and other district wide programs there. Bountyland is in a good location for most of our people to easily access that and we hope that eventually the CAT bus will run to that area and serve those areas as well.” These moves are planned for August of 2020, when the Hamilton Career Center is scheduled to move to a new building in the Industry and Technology Park on Highway 11.
