SDOC looking for Principal at West-Oak Middle

The School District of Oconee County (SDOC) thought they had the right person but unfortunately things have changed and now the district is looking for a new principal for West-Oak Middle School. Last month, the SDOC announced that Dr. Tim Scott would be the new principal but that has now changed, explains Oconee County Schools Assistant Superintendent of Operations Steve Hanvey. “We have a Special Called Board Meeting on Wednesday, March 28, at 4pm where we hope to name a principal at West-Oak Middle School. We had made the recommendation and were in the process of hiring Dr. Time Scott from Georgia but in between that he actually got called for a superintendent’s job in Georgia and we understand why he wanted to do that. So, we are basically interviewing again today and hope to have a recommendation for the board on Wednesday. We also hope to have a recommendation for the director in Humane Resources who will take the position of the retiring Earnestine Williams. So, we can get that position transitioned in there a little bit as well and give them some time with Mrs. Williams. So, we do have that Special Called Meeting on Wednesday at 4pm and an announcement should be forthcoming after that for both of those positions.” The Special Meeting of the Board of Trustees for the SDOC is open to the public and takes place in the School Board Conference Room at 414 South Pine Street in Walhalla.
