SDOC makes Announcement concerning Threats

Administrators in the School District of Oconee County (SDOC) announce that there has been much communication over the last 24 hours about threats at Seneca and Walhalla High Schools. Administrators and law enforcement are currently investigating these reports, but there is no credible evidence or danger at any SDOC at this time. Parents are encouraged to reinforce the following with children: If you witness a credible threat first hand (hear a student make a threatening comment or see something written that would indicate a threat), please discuss this immediately with a school administrator or the school resource officer (or contact law enforcement after school hours). Do not share the message with others that have been gathered from second hand information. This creates panic and stories only get embellished the more they are circulated, especially through social media. The SDOC works diligently to create safe environments for students and staff. Law enforcement and school officials will continue to investigate alleged threats. Individuals making or perpetuating threats to schools will face school discipline and legal charges.
