SDOC: NO SCHOOL MONDAY

The School District of Oconee County will be closed on Monday, September 30th. No students or employees will report to buildings.
(It will not be an eLearning Day)
Board of Trustees Special Called Board Meeting for 9/30 has been cancelled.
From Dr. Michael Thorsland:
“We know that many families and employees still do not have power and are dealing with damage from the storm. As of this afternoon, there are still several schools without power as well. In light of this and to allow families and employees the time they need to take care of things, the district will be closed Monday. Waiting until this afternoon to make the decision allowed us to have the most up to date information about the restoration of power and road conditions so we could make the best decision for students and employees. We will continue to monitor the situation and will make future decisions day by day so we have the best chance of getting students back to school as soon as possible. When we do return to school, we will work with those families and employees who may still be without power. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those in our community dealing with the effects of Hurricane Helene, as well as those across the southeast who have suffered such devastation, especially our neighbors in western North Carolina.”
