SDPC announces Calendar Update

The Board of Trustees for the School District of Pickens County (SDPC) has approved a slight revision to the calendar for the upcoming 2018-2019 school year. As required by state law, Election Day on Nov. 6, 2018, will be a holiday. To adjust for this change with minimal disruption to the rest of the calendar, the inclement weather make-up day that was previously scheduled for Feb. 15, 2019, has been moved to June 3, 2019 and Feb. 15, will now be a normal school day. The SDPC doesn’t expect to have to use June 3, to make up inclement weather next year because the board has also approved participation in a new program that allows students to make up inclement weather days through online work, in grades 4-12, and other make-up assignments in grades K-3. However, this program is pending approval by the SC Education Oversight Committee on Aug. 6. More information about the online inclement weather make-up program will be released in the weeks ahead by the SDPC.
