Seneca Baseball hosting Upper State Title Game Tonight

The Seneca High School (SHS) varsity baseball team hosts Indian Land tonight, May 9, at 5pm in the Upper State Title Game at Coach Mac Field. Seneca needs to win just one game of a possible two tonight in order to repeat as the AAA Upper State Champions and return the State Championship Series. SHS Varsity Baseball Coach Andy Bay previews tonight’s game. “We’re one win away from going to play for the State Championship again. We’re starting at 5pm, because Indian Land won the elimination game to come back to us, so out of a respect for them there is a possibility of two game tonight. So, they are three hours away from home, so we have to start as soon as we can is the reason for the 5pm start. But we obviously are planning on taking care of our business in the first game and not having to do that.” Coach Bay invites the community to come watch some great baseball. “I’m very proud of the fact that they set a goal to get back to the State Championship. Last year being the first time in 30 years that we had played for it, obviously we were just very excited to be there and have a chance to win it. But, at the same time it left a sour taste in their mouth and they set a goal to get back. But the thing that I am most proud of is that it is a different team. We did loose some key players from that team last year and for these boys to set a goal and work their butts off to reach that goal, it has just been fun to watch from my end to help them get there.” First pitch of tonight’s game is just after 5pm.
