Seneca Business Owner arrested on Drug Charges

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office and Seneca Police Department made a joint drug arrest Monday in the city limits of Seneca.  Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Jimmy Watt gives details.  “According to investigators, 55-year-old Joseph Michael West of 302 West North 2nd Street in Seneca was arrested at his place of business called Yesterday’s at 318 West North 1st Street.  Officers and deputies served warrants not only at the home address of West, but also at the location of the business as well. According to warrants from the Sheriff’s Office, West reportedly distributed on March 25th and April 24th of this year a quantity of marijuana to an operative of the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office.  The incident on the 25th occurred at the West North 1st Street location, while the incident on the 24th occurred at the home address of West on West North 2nd Street.  According to warrants from the Seneca Police Department, West is accused of distributing marijuana and hashish to an operative of the Seneca Police Department on April 4th at the place of business on West North 1st Street , as well as distributing marijuana to an operative of the Seneca Police Department on April 22nd at the place of business as well.” West was booked on the charges at the Oconee County Detention Center in Walhalla.  The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office and the Seneca Police Department are continuing their investigation into the case.
