Seneca City Administrator Excited About The Future After Council Approves Settlement Of City Lawsuit With Elford Haynes

(Seneca, SC)—–As 94.1 The Lake reported today, Seneca City Council has given their approval for Seneca City Administrator Scott Moulder and Seneca Mayor Dan Alexander to sign a settlement agreement to settle the ongoing lawsuit between the city and Elford Haynes.

Moulder could not discuss details of the settlement, including the amount of money that was agreed upon between the parties to settle the suit, due to the fact that the agreement has yet to be signed.  However, Moulder said that the document has received approval from the attorney’s and the parties on both sides.  Moulder anticipates that the total process may take as long as 60 days, upon which the city will be able to own the old Harper’s building in downtown Seneca.

The settlement will address any other legal matters that have arisen from the litigation, including any lien’s that have been placed on other property and the fines and fees that have accumulated over the course of the legal proceedings.

When asked after last night’s meeting about his personal feelings in regards to the settlement, Moulder said that he is excited about the future.  Moulder said that he knows the city has been dealing with this issue for quite some time.

“We see this as a catalystic opportunity to move the city forward,” says Moulder.  “It is one of those big pivotal moments that shows the community that we are doing what we have to do to address these conditions and we will move forward.”
