Seneca City and Oconee County Tornado Update # 2 on Recovery Efforts

OCONEE COUNTY, S.C. (Saturday, April 18) – The City of Seneca and Oconee County continue recovery efforts for citizens and residents. City and County officials are urging all volunteers and citizens to utilize safe work practices during disaster recovery efforts and clean – up. Officials also urge citizens to avoid S. Oak Street between 5th Street and Daniel Avenue and surrounding areas.
Clean-up and recovery efforts continue in the area with affiliated volunteers. All volunteers should check in at Seneca High School located at 100 Bobcat Ridge. Anyone interested in volunteering to help with clean-up and recovery efforts should visit https://scvoad.communityos.org/cms/home.
Debris sites are still being maintained during daylight hours off Lancaster Drive in Seneca. Citizens who bring debris are asked to separate timber and brush debris from construction and housing debris.
Donations are currently accepted at the Shaver Complex, located at 698 W. South 4th Street in Seneca, during daylight hours. Officials are partnering with Clemson Paw Partners for pet food donations and pick-up at the Complex.
Feeding sites, maintained by volunteer organizations, are at the following locations:

Shower and laundries are available for public use at the following locations:

 Seneca Rescue Squad – 223 Goddard Avenue, Seneca – Laundry services
 Tiger Wash – 491 E Main Street, Seneca – Laundry
 YMCA – 370 Memorial Drive, Seneca – Shower services

Designated pick-up points to transport all impacted citizens in need of laundry, shower and donations are at the following locations:

On April 13, 2020, an EF-3 tornado touched down in the Westminster area around 3:20 a.m. The tornado reached up to 160 mph and traveled approximately eight miles within Oconee County. Significant damage has been reported in the Downtown Seneca and Utica areas.
