Seneca City Council approves Sesquicentennial Banners

Banners celebrating the 150th anniversary of Oconee County will soon be flying in the City of Seneca. At their special called meeting last night, the Seneca City Council approved the banners to be flown throughout the city, explains Mayor Dan Alexander. “Oconee County Parks, Recreation and Tourism Director Phil Shirley contacted Seneca Planning and Community Development Director Ed Halbig and asked if the City of Seneca could display some of those banners in different locations. So, we will do that and that is exciting, 150 years. I know the county has big plans for the whole year to celebrate their anniversary. I appreciate everybody that is doing it. That will bring people into town.” Oconee County has events planned throughout the year to celebrate the sesquicentennial.
