Seneca City Council Passes First Reading On Proposed 2020 Fiscal Year Budget

(Seneca, SC)————Seneca City Council held a work session and special called Council Meeting last night and several items were on the agenda, including the 1st reading of the fiscal year 2020 Seneca City Budget, which was passed on first reading. 

The General Fund budget will see an increase of over $700,000 from last year’s budget for a total budget of over $12.4 million dollars. The Seneca and Light Water budget will also see an increase of almost $460,000 from last year’s budget for a total budget this year of over $31.6 million dollars. 

Even with increases in the General Fund and the Seneca Light and Water budget, Seneca City Administrator Scott Moulder said that there are no operational millage increases or user fee increases or rate increases proposed in the budget at this time. 

Besides approving on first reading the General Fund and Light and Water Budget, Council also approved on first reading the 2020 Hospitality and Accommodations Tax Budget, which is close to $800,000, the Accommodations Tax Budget, which is $100,000, the Transit Budget of over $2.8 million dollars, which does include a grant that was received for two new buses, the Seneca Facilities Corporation Budget, which totals over $3.7 million dollars and the Seneca Improvements Corporation Budget, which totals $855,000.
