Seneca considering investment in New Christmas Decorations

Seneca Events Coordinator Riley Johnson wants to attract more people to Norton-Thompson Park during Christmas. During Tuesday night’s Seneca City Council Work Session, Johnson ask the council to invest in new Christmas decorations. “We would like to take this to the next level. It is the opening of the Seneca Christmas Parade every year. We started about three years ago with an idea and we had the mayor and several of you came to the park and we lit the park. With this celebration we are talking about making it very nice, a tree. The amount that I’m asking for is $75,000 and that would include the tree and lights throughout the park. I think it would bring tourism into the city. Instead of a pole tree when we count down 3, 2, 1 this lights a very nice tree and plus other decorations throughout the park.” The Seneca City Council accepted the request and will vote on the allocation of funds for Christmas decorations at Norton-Thompson Park at a future meeting.
