Seneca Council to consider Business Incentives

The Seneca City Council will have their regularly scheduled monthly council meeting tonight, July 10. On the agenda are second readings of two ordinances, the Economic Development Incentives Program and the Commercial Building Improvement Program. Both come as recommendations from the Seneca Development Committee, which is chaired by Councilman Herman Smith. “We got it all together. We did the first reading a month or so ago to get it in and when City Administrator Scott Moulder came on board we also wanted to make sure that we had it budgeted for 2019. I think it is going to be very successful thing, I hope it is and we are all pushing for it. Both of the incentives, one for the building and one for the business, but they are pretty self explanatory and we are going to try to kick it off on Aug. 1. You simply make an application and it goes before the board of the Development Committee, which is the same board we have for our other committees, which is made up of Mayor Dan Alexander, Mr. Moulder, Utilities Director Bob Faires, Finance Director Josh Riches, Planning and Community Development Director Ed Halbig and a few other people. They make sure that we get even, fair and that everybody is together. We are looking forward to it, it should be passed tonight on second reading and we are hoping that it just takes off and just does very well.” The 6pm meeting is open to the public and takes place in the Council Chambers of Seneca City Hall.
