Seneca Half Marathon and 5K attracting Tourists

Over 150 people have already signed up to run in the City of Seneca’s 3rd Annual Half Marathon and 5K on March 16.  Seneca Events Coordinator Riley Johnson says they are building off last year’s success to make this year even bigger and better.  “Upstate Medical Associates, Dr. Henry and all the folks over there making this race possible.  They are presenting the Third Annual Half Marathon and 5K.  It is going to be a wonderful route, just like last year.  Also the 5K same as last year; from the Shaver Recreation Complex down to Seneca Baptist Church and back.  It is just going to be a lot of fun.”  Several out of state runners have signed up this year, adds Johnson. “It is kind of neat everyday to see the entries when they come in just to see where they are coming from.” A number of fun activities have been added this year, tells Johnson. “We have some neat things planned.  We have got live music from Groove Planet going to be performing and of course, the Tiki Hut on Lake Keowee will be catering the after race party with refreshments.  We also have some bouncies for the kids and it is just going to be one terrific party.  Still to enter, so come on out if you made some resolutions at the first of the year, you still have time.”  Registration forms for the City of Seneca’s 3rd Annual Half Marathon and 5K on March 16 are available on the city’s website at www.seneca.sc.us, City Hall and the Shaver Recreation Complex.
