Seneca Improvement Corporation Approves Money For New Ram Cat Alley Salon Business

(Seneca,  SC)—–The Seneca Improvements Corporation this morning approved up to $5,000 in money through the Commercial Building Improvement Program for a new business that will be opening on Ram Cat Alley.

The business identified as Salon K on the meeting agenda may be opening their doors in as soon as three weeks at 126 Ram Cat Alley, which is next to the old Bergen’s building. The salon is currently located off of Highway 123 in Seneca.

The money can be used as a reimbursement for work that has been done, such as façade improvements to the outside of the business.

There was also an application for money from Salon K through the Economic Development Improvement Program and the business did qualify for money from that program, however, the Corporation recommended that the application be re-filed after the business opens to see if additional money might be available.

The Corporation did turn down a request from One Community Church for money from the Commercial Building Improvement Program for improvements to the inside of the old United Way Building on East North First Street, which the church purchased two years ago and plans to hold services.

The application was denied due to the fact that the work inside of the building did not meet the criteria of the ordinance.

The Corporation asked for the church to resubmit an application so they can be reimbursed for improvements already made to the outside of the building and for those improvements planned for the outside of the building in the future.

The Corporation also approved a new insurance carrier for the old Hometown Food Store building at a cost of $4,667 per year.  The current insurance carrier will no longer provide insurance coverage for the building since it has been vacant for three years.
