Seneca Light and Water Power Restoration Update

Officials at Seneca Light & Water issued a Monday afternoon update on the current status and
work being done to restore power to 5,000 services as a result of the destructive forces of the EF-
3 tornado which struck Seneca and surrounding areas a week ago.
• There were 5 circuits affected with 4 destroyed by the tornado Monday morning with
over 5000 services out.
• Today, 4/20/20, there remain roughly 500 meters out of service.
• Today, 4/20/20, 150 linemen continue rebuilding the electric distribution system.
• Please be advised to continue to stay away from electric wire, poles, and transformers
that may be laying on the ground. Contract crews are addressing all storm related
material. Clean-up efforts are well underway.
• Electric service cannot be re-established if the building’s meter base or the
weather-head is damaged. If damage has occurred, please have a certified
electrician address the problem and notify the local building official.
• Seneca Light & Waters expects to have 95% of the primary circuits to be re-established
by 4/24/20.
Seneca Light & Water would like to express a sincere thank you for
their customers’ patience as electric distribution is being rebuilt
from the ground up.
