SENECA LIGHT & WATER ANNOUNCES PLANS TO REINSTATE CUSTOMER NON-PAYMENT PENALTIES AND FEES IN TWO-STEP PROCESS

Beginning June 1, 2020, Seneca Light & Water will begin the process of reinstating normal
customer non-payment penalties and fees.
On March 14th, Seneca Light and Water suspended all customer late fees and disconnections for non-payment in response to a request issued by Governor McMaster during the State of Emergency associated with the Covid 19 virus. Recently on May 13, the Governor’s office requested utilities to begin phasing in normal business operations.

Following those recommendations, reinstatement of normal non-payment penalties and fees will occur in two steps:
-Beginning June 1, any current past due bill during the month of June will incur a late fee but will not be disconnected.

-Beginning July 1, any 1 month or more unpaid bill in July will incur a non-payment fee and be
subject to immediate disconnection.

This phased approach will allow normal billing operations to be fully implemented in July.
Seneca Light & Water advises there are several agencies that work with utility customers who may require financial assistance. Some of those agencies are the United Way, American Red Cross, SHARE, local churches, etc. If assistance is required, please communicate that need as soon as possible to avoid service interruption.
