Seneca Lions helping Residents See clearly
Oconee County residents are seeing much clearer now thanks to the generosity and dedication of the local Lions Clubs. So far this year, the Seneca Lions Club has raised enough donations to fund over 60 pairs of glasses, explains Seneca Lions Club second vice president Jim Atkinson. “We have already bought 33 glasses this year and 30 are approved for purchase and then 13 are awaiting approval.” Atkinson appreciates the generosity of the Oconee County community to assist needy individuals with glasses. He also thanked one individual who has been instrumental in the process. “Thanks to Dr. Forgnoni who really works with us and allows us to help the people.” Residents in need of financial aid to receive vision screenings or eyeglasses can go to the SHARE Office, explains Atkinson. “The SHARE Office gives us the list, so that is who you have to go see first when you are in need. Then we talk to them on the phone. I thank Ed McCann, who is our chair for that, I think he lives on the phone talking to people and he has been doing it for a long, long time.” Money raised by the local Lions Clubs of Oconee County goes to support their mission of hearing and sight conservation.
