Seneca Lions reading to Schoolchildren

On Monday, the nation paused to honor our presidents, the men who have served in this country’s highest office.  Locally, the Seneca Lions Club is doing its part to educate area schoolchildren about these great men and their accomplishments.  Seneca Lions Club second vice president and publicity chair Jim Atkinson gives details.  “We are reading at area schools all week as part of President’s Week.  Lion Kathy Carroll has planned this and put it together.  She has Lions going to schools each day this week to read stories to children in kindergarten and first grade.  We are reading stories about George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, the White House and things like that, so it is something different and hopefully interesting to kids.” Lion Kathy Carroll chairs the Seneca Lions Club Reading in Action Program, which targets kindergarten and first grade readers as they begin their journey of discovering the joy of reading.
