Seneca makes Peak Generation Savings Deposit

The City of Seneca is saving money thanks to a new utility program. At their meeting earlier this month, the Seneca City Council approved a deposit of peak generation savings, explains Seneca City Administrator Scott Moulder. “What a great idea that was that Seneca Light and Water, Utilities Director Bob Faires, Mayor Dan Alexander, the Seneca City Council and former City Administrator Greg Dietterick had, the peak shaving generators that were installed, we’ve got five of them. What a great idea that was to shave off some of those premium charges during those hours of the month and it is returning money back to us. Right now it is almost up to $2 million.” The peak generation savings deposit was made into an account with Oconee Federal Savings and Loan and that money will be used to help the Seneca Improvements Corporation make improvements in the downtown area.
