Seneca Man arrested for Assault and Battery

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Seneca man yesterday on an outstanding warrant for a charge of assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature. Booked into the Oconee County Detention Center was 34-year-old Michael Lee Carter of Deer Park Drive. He was taken into custody after deputies responded to reports of a disturbance at an address on Raven Drive in the Walhalla area late yesterday afternoon. Carter was located on the scene of the reported disturbance. On July 18, 2017, a deputy responded to a separate address on Deer Park Drive in regards to reports of an assault that reportedly occurred at the Deer Park Drive address of Carter. Carter left the scene after the assault had occurred. Paramedics arrived on scene and transported the victim to the hospital for further treatment. As the investigation continued and evidence was gathered in the case, it was determined that Carter had assaulted the victim inside of Carter’s Deer Park Drive address causing injuries that required the victim to receive treatment overnight in the hospital. At this time, Carter remains in custody at the Oconee County Detention Center on a $20,000 surety bond.
